Father & Son is a song that needs little introduction. This classic Cat Stevens track is the song that Ronan Keating sung for his Boyzone audition. Boyzone then released the track in November 1995 and it went straight to number 2, staying in the charts for an incredible 96 weeks! Whilst performing it on Top Of The Pops in 1995 Ronan first met the songs composer Yusuf Islam (formerly known as Cat Stevens).9 years later Ronan decided to record a new version for his 10 Years Of Hits album. The song has always been an important part of Ronan's life and he approached Yusuf to ask him to record the track as a duet. To his delight Yusuf said yes. The last time Yusuf commercially released a single was in 1977, the year that Ronan was born! The result is spectacular.When it was announced in September that Ronan and Yusuf were to record together William Hill instantly made it odds on favourite for this years Xmas number 1 at 25/1. The odds are currently at 6/1.Ronan and Yusuf recorded the video recently in London, it's directed by Kevin Godley (When You Say Nothing At All and If Tomorrow Never Comes). Father & Son is taken from Ronan's new compilation album Ronan Keating 10 Years Of Hits. Released on October 11th it west straight to number 1 in the album charts and has remained in the top 10 since. To coincide with its release Guinness World Records presented Ronan with the world record for the 'Longest Complete Run Of Top 10 Hit Singles' (30 in total!) beating the likes of Madonna and Elvis. Ronan has spent a total of 12 years and 35 weeks on the UK Singles and Albums charts combined, solo and with Boyzone.Ronan has enjoyed chart success for 10 years now, which is far more than most artists ever achieve. Some of the highlights include duetting with Elton John at Madison Square Garden, interviewing David Bowie on the web, singing with Pavarotti, hosting everything from Miss World and the Eurovision Song Contest to the MTV Awards twice, writing an autobiography, travelling the world, guiding Westlife to stardom and too many hits, gigs and awards to keep count. He has sold in excess of 17 million albums across the globe... and all this by the age of 27!
